The Olovo Municipality borders with seven municipalities: Ilijaš, Sokolac, Han Pijesak, Kladanj, Banovići, Zavidovići and Vareš.

In the area that covers 408 km2 (8.4% of the region) currently the population is about 11 000.

Balanced development of the system of settlements in the municipality of Olovo is mainly caused by specific, very favorable geographical position of the municipality in the region and the country. The very community center is located on the main road Sarajevo – Tuzla while three regional roads (towards Zavidovići, Han Pijesak and Sokolac) practically cover almost the entire area of the municipality and connect large number of settlements. This may explain the fact that despite the rural exodus in the municipality there has been no massive mooving from villages and concentration in the community center.

Nearly all the jobs are concentrated in the community center.

With the tendency of monocentric development it could be also said that there is a certain tendency of spontaneous polycentric settlement system. In some conveniently located villages where the number of inhabitants is growing(Solun, Careva Ćuprija,Čunista) there is a modest dispersion of some central functions (education, health sector and service industry) and therefore it comes to the formation of the villages with some (rudimentary) characteristics of local centers.

The settlements that make network centers system of Olovo municipialty are:

  • The community center- Olovo;
  • Suburbs Olovske Luke *;
  • Dolovi (community center of villages).

Community centers of Solun village ;

  • Careva Ćuprija (Kamensko);
  • Petrovići;
  • Dolovi (as a suburb);

The settlement Olovske Luke has already made a kind of longitudinal urban agglomeration with the community center.

The facilitates in the community center fully meet the overall population of the municipality.The facilities are:

  • Health Center
  • Pharmacy;
  • Veterinary Station;
  • Kindergarten;
  • Center for Social Work;
  • independent Primary School;
  • Secondary School;
  • cultural Centre
  • Library;
  • Cinema;
  • shops for occasional and daily supplies;
  • department store;
  • hotels or motels;
